Feminist Studies |
A degree in Feminist Studies illuminates
women’s lives and histories from multiracial and transnational
perspectives. Feminist scholarship emphasizes the ways in which
systems of domination based on racism, sexism, homophobia, and classism
intersect. Graduates' knowledge about power relationships and injustice
often leads them to choose careers in government, law, and politics,
because they are determined to use their skills to change the world,
many in their own communities. The interdisciplinary nature of women's
studies is also an excellent preparation for careers in education
and library science, requiring expertise in finding and using information
on contemporary social issues. Some Feminist Studies majors choose
the medical professions, where their expanded insights and sensitivity
to social concerns proves useful. |
