From your first day at UC Santa Cruz through life after graduation, Career Success is here to support your journey. Whether you’re exploring interests, building experience, or preparing for your next step, we’re here to help you move forward with confidence.
Wherever you are in your career development process, now is the perfect time to start. Our career coaching is available to all currently enrolled students—and to alumni for up to two years after graduation.

Whether you’re just starting to explore options or preparing for your next opportunity, we’re here to support your professional growth. Career coaching is available in person and virtually to meet your preferences and needs.
Drop-in with a Peer Coach
Peer Coaches provide support with resumes and cover letters, job and internship searches, career exploration, and guidance on available career resources. Peer Coach appointments are 15 minutes and available on a drop-in basis only.

Resume/CV/Cover Letter Written Feedback
If you would like feedback on your Resume, CV, or Cover Letter, start here:
- If you need help getting started, review our resume and cover letter writing resources.
- Submit your document with the Resume/Cover Letter/CV Feedback form. We will review it and provide written feedback within 3 business days. Please do not make an appointment until after you’ve received your written feedback.
- If you have any questions or clarifications about the feedback, feel free to attend our drop in “Ask a Peer” hours (check Drop In Advising calendar above for schedule), or email CC_Coach@ucsc.edu.
- Once you’ve received feedback, update your resume.
- Follow the provided next steps to either make an appointment to review your final draft, or resubmit for additional written feedback.
One-on-one coaching appointments
Professional staff members offer more in-depth support for career needs, including career exploration, graduate school applications, interview preparation, and additional resources. Appointments are typically 30 minutes long and are scheduled through Handshake.
What to expect during these meetings?
These coaching sessions are a partnership of equals. We ask you reflection questions to help you identify one primary focus point for the meeting. We coach you in identifying resources and strategies to support you best. We encourage you to take notes during the meeting. At the end of the meeting, we have you identify action steps that make sense for you. Since this is a partnership of equals, we will coach you but not just tell you what to do next.
