Career Services for UCSC Alumni

The UCSC Career Center is pleased to offer a variety of services to our alumni. To take advantage of these services you must purchase a Career Center Access Card.

The fee is $100.00 for one year of services (listed below), including up to two hours of advising.
See how to purchase details below.
An access card enables you to use the services listed below but not the On Campus Recruiting program via SlugQuest.  You can apply for positions directly through the employer.

Services Available:

  • Job & Internship Listings through SlugQuest
UCSC is contracted with NACElink to manage job listings and internships. Job seekers may search the database 24 hours a day, upload and post resumes online and access numerous career resources. Please note that the on-campus jobs (ER system) are only available to current students.
  • Career Advising
Purchase of an Alumni Access Card entitles you to up to two hours of career advising (four 1/2 hour sessions). Additional time may be gained by purchasing another card for an additional $100 fee. "Express Appointments" with professional career advisers may be scheduled via SlugQuest. Express appointments now take the place of drop-in advising. You may also schedule individual appointments directly with any of our Career Advisers. Advisers can assist with applying to graduate/professional school, creating a resume, interviewing skills, selecting an internship, career assessment and the job search process.
  • Career Workshops
Career workshops on Resume & Cover Letter Writing, Job Interviewing Techniques, Graduate School Application Process, and Selecting an Internship are offered each quarter. In addition, check the Career Center's Workshop Schedule for special focus workshops dealing with specific career and/or majors.
  • Career Resource Library and Computer Lab
A comprehensive library is available to students on topics dealing with career assessment, the job search, interviewing, resume development, graduate school, internships and specific career fields. The computer lab allows students to apply online for jobs and search career resource materials.
  • Admission to Career Fairs Sponsored by the Career Center
Several fairs are held each year; usually one or two each quarter. These include career and internship fairs, the Graduate School Information Fair, as well as industry-specific fairs. Alumni admission to these fairs will be permitted only with a valid UCSC Access Card and a picture ID. Cards may be purchased at the Career Center at the 305 Bay Tree Building. Cards may not be purchased on the day of the fair. Please refer to the Career Center Upcoming Events web page for fair dates. If you have any questions, please contact the Career Center (831) 459-4420.
  • Career Assessments
Unsure of a career or major? The UCSC Career Center offers assessments and/or a workbooks that can help you gain clarity on these issues. On-line Career Assessment is available to all UCSC Students and Alumni (access card not required).
  • Career Advice Network (CAN)

The Career Center coordinates a valuable program known as the Career Advice Network (CAN). Consisting of UCSC alumni and other professionals from various fields, the members of the network help UCSC students and alumni by sharing career insights and information. If you would like information about how you can become a part of this important resource, please contact us at or go to the Career Advice Network web page to register (coming Fall of 2015).

** This version of CAN is currently under construction. Please check in with this page to stay informed about our new system **
