Are you interested in helping your fellow students figure out their career path? Consider applying to be a Career Success Peer Coach!

    What do Peers do?

    • Advise undergraduate students in the initial stages of the career development process 
    • Conduct drop-in advising, both individually and in groups, to critique resumes and cover letters, connect students with career resources, and answer career-related questions
    • Present and conduct outreach on behalf of Career to other campus partners with professionalism and enthusiasm
    • Create a warm and welcoming environment in the Career Center
    •  Demonstrate how to use Handshake, FOCUS 2 and ER System software to students
    • Participate in Career workshops and events

  • Desired Qualifications:

    • High energy, positive student leaders who want to make a difference 
    • Warm and compassionate demeanor
    • Desire and ability to interact with diverse student populations
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Organized, conscientious and reliable team player
    • Willingness to learn and creative problem solving
    • Second and third year students preferred - must commit for the entire academic year, and be available to work 8 - 12 hours per week
    • Training starts in Spring Quarter, with a 20 hour commitment over the course of the quarter. Peers must be able to commit to training during the week of September 20th, before the start of the Fall Quarter.

    3. You must attach your resume AND cover letter in order to be considered for an interview.  You are also welcome to email them to Rebecca at rtivang@ucsc.edu in addition to applying on the ER System.
