This course is designed for students who want to get introduced to our career resources at their own pace. It is not for academic credit and is fully optional. We organized modules based on the common reasons that students engage with our office. The modules provide a walkthrough of our most common resources.
Modules include- Career Success Introduction
- Career Exploration
- Getting Hired
- Develop Skills with Jobs & Experiential Learning
- Graduate & Professional School Prep (including law and medical school)
Collaboration Request (Workshop Presentation or Resources)
Before submitting a collaboration request for a workshop, we will encourage you to attend our scheduled workshops listed on Handshake and our events calendar, visit our drop-in hours, and explore our Career Success Canvas Course.
Timing Considerations
- Requests must be submitted a minimum of three (3) weeks prior to the intended event date
- We can typically host events during our office business hours, Monday–Friday from 9 AM–4 PM. Requests outside of these hours may be more difficult to fulfill and may be limited to virtual.
- Due to staffing limitations, we ask that you please not request more than one event per quarter.
Expectations for workshop requests
- We are prioritizing requests of over 20 attendees
- The requesting unit should provide a draft flyer to promote the event 2 weeks prior to the scheduled event
For in-person requests, the requesting unit is responsible for reserving a space on campus and providing a/v tech support - For in-person requests, the requesting unit is responsible for having someone available to support event check-in
Career Success Collaboration Request Form (workshop/resources)
Please note that you are not guaranteed a workshop by filling out this form. If we are available to fulfill your request, we will confirm the date/time with you in a follow-up email. If we are unable to do a workshop for you, we will provide you with resources that you can share with your students. We will be in communication with you within two weeks.

Federal Work-Study
The Federal Work-Study Program allows you as an employer to hire UCSC students at a reduced cost while providing valuable work experience. You contribute 25% of the student’s salary along with a 10% administrative fee – the program covers the remaining 75% of the student's wages through their financial aid award.
Students who receive the Work-Study option are awarded a set dollar amount which their wages for the academic year may not exceed. Any student may view and apply to a work-study job, and you may view which students are eligible in your applicants tab of the job posting in Handshake.
