Federal Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program allows you as an employer to hire UCSC students at a reduced cost while providing valuable work experience. You contribute 25% of the student’s salary along with a 10% administrative fee – the program covers the remaining 75% of the student's wages through their financial aid award.

Students who receive the Work-Study option are awarded a set dollar amount which their wages for the academic year may not exceed. Only students who qualify for Work-Study may apply for Work-Study positions.

Learning Aligned Employment Program (LAEP)

The Learning Aligned Employment Program (LAEP) is a nine-year, state-funded, work-based learning program similar to federal work-study. LAEP offers eligible students the opportunity to earn money to help defray their educational costs while gaining education-aligned, career-related employment.

On-campus employers may apply on a rolling basis for the program to recruit fully funded, research-based job opportunities for eligible students, covering up to $6,000 of employment costs for the student depending on the students’ financial need.
