Career Services for UCSC Alumni

Career Advice Network

The Career Center, in collaboration with University Relations, welcomes alumni to participate in the Career Advice Network (CAN). CAN enables students and alumni to search a database of advisors consisting of UCSC alumni from various fields. CAN members help by sharing career insights and information. Advisors can provide resume critiques, mock interview practice, or just have a casual career conversation. Help a Slug land their dream job. Join the Career Advice Network today!

First Destination Survey

Every year the Career Center sponsors a survey to ask graduating seniors about their post-graduation plans broadly, collecting more specific information if they have secured a job (including job title and salary) or have been accepted into a graduate or professional degree program. Survey results are made available online.

Alumni Career Center Access

As of May 21, 2018, recent graduates receive three years of Career Center access from the date of graduation. Access includes job and internship listings through Handshake, entry to workshops and fairs, and access to online resources.

The following services are free for alumni:

  • Job & Internship Listings through Handshake
Job seekers may search the database 24 hours a day, upload and post resumes online and access numerous career resources. Please note that the on-campus jobs (ER system) are only available to current students.
  • Career Workshops
Career workshops on resume & cover letter writing, job interviewing techniques, graduate school application process, and selecting an internship are offered each quarter. In addition, check the Career Center's Workshop Schedule for special focus workshops dealing with specific careers and/or majors.
  • Career Fairs (must be preapproved by verifying your Alumni status first). Several fairs are held each year: usually one or two each quarter. These include career and internship fairs, the graduate school fair, and industry-specific fairs. Alumni admission to these fairs is permitted with your student ID number and a photo ID. Please refer to the Career Center Upcoming Events page for fair dates. If you have any questions, please contact the Career Center at (831) 459-4420. Alumni who graduated three or more years in the past should purchase a Career Center Access Card to attend career fairs.

Career Coaching is not included in the three free years of access.

If you're an alumni interested in receiving career coaching, please purchase a Career Center Access Card. The Career Center Access Card fee is $100.00 and includes up to two hours of coaching (four half hour sessions).

Additional time may be gained by purchasing another card for an additional $100 fee. Appointments with professional career coaches must be scheduled by calling our front desk at 831-459-4420.
